cycling wear

Cycling wear is divided into two parts: Jersey top and shorts. The zipper on the jersey is usually very long so the cyclist can open for air circulation. The jersey is most of the time tight for in order to reduce air resistance. Jerseys are made from moist absorbent material for the skin to stay dry and comfortable to cycle. In most cultures, the Jerseys color symbolization from each culture tells a lot- in the majority of countries the yellow/golden color symbolizes the general leader.

For cycling shorts, there are multiple names such as bike shorts, bicycling shorts, chamois, knicks or spats. Cycling is designed for comfort and flexibility while cycling.

In an old-fashioned way, cycling shorts were constructed from knit black wool which covers the marks by sitting on an oiled leather seat for an extended amount of time. Cycling shorts these days often made of spandex/Lycra with the synthetic elastic interface the person’s body and the saddle. The cycling shorts can be customized with different fabrics at different parts of the body depending on the cyclist’s needs. By customizing the shorts cyclists are able to perform more efficiently.

Spandex absorbs the sweat away from the skin. So the spandex is usually the very first layer to wear under other layer textiles. On top people wear other protective materials such as windshield or water resistant fabrics depending on the weather condition. Spandex functions well with sports activities which involve a lot of moving- it’s flexible, durable fabrics make you feel comfortable enough to have free movement. Spandex can also be knitted or woven with other yarns such as bamboo, acrylic, nylon, viscose, cotton, polyester, elastane and also combining them with them with chemicals makes the garment even stronger. This combination makes the shorts prevent odors, keeps the skin dry and bacteria from growing on the skin.
